Studio Construction
Over the past years I've had the opportunity to design, build, remodel, etc. a number of rooms for recording and performance. Working on a limited budget means creating structures with standard building materials and gathering certain materials from destruction and remodel jobs. Paying close attention to detail with seals, insulation, isolation, potential rattles and room treatment is a must.
The photos on the left were taken from the studios I've built to house Arcade Recording, which was previously Arcade Digital and before that Little Rock Studio.
If you have any questions or need some consultation info for a room you might be building, feel free to give me a call. Though I don't swing a hammer for hire anymore, I may have ideas and experience that could be of assistance to you.
Some of the features I use when building studios are:
Double wall construction
Independent suspended window frames
Solid core 4" thick doors with Herculite pressure seals
Independent floor sections, some filled and glued
Lead wrapped, ventilated machine room
Vestibule between control room and studio
Tall ceiling heights, irregular shapes
Workable visibility between rooms
Some natural daylight
Variable mood lighting
Easy access for load in, load out
Variable acoustics
